Thank you to all who came or supported our Winter Walk for Tomorrow this past Saturday! We had a great turnout of 50 people and a wonderful time walking together.
We would like to send a very special thank you for the generous donation from the Winter Women's Auxiliary Post 303 at our walk (pictured below). Thank you very much for your donation each year to this wonderful cause!

WORK Club After-school Program Science FUN!
The 3rd and 4th grade WORK Club students took their marble run track to a whole new level last night. Each Thursday, a group of students gets to participate in a special after-school version of Science Club. With the roof on the Nature Center under construction, students visited the High School science room for engineering activities. All of the students built amazing structures from blocks and magnets as well.

The kindergarteners (Class of 2039!) helped to receive some donation checks as part of the Kids' Change Drive today. And of course, they also insisted on a silly picture with an apple on their head!
The WSD students have raised almost $10,000 as part of their change drive so far! The funds will go towards some of the following items, depending on how much is raised:
Raise enough to save our school by eliminating the current debt [difficult, but great — the kids have such high hopes!]
Help pay some utility bills (for example, electricity, propane, diesel, water, etc.)
Help the school lunch program by donating to the cost of food or staff in the kitchen
Provide funds to the library for books or technology needed for education
Donate funds towards needed security camera updates
Help with bus garage repairs
Help keep middle and/or high school sports from being cut
Help another extracurricular from being cut (not sure which ones may be cut or how much money would be required to keep each one)
Our students are amazing, to say the least!

The kinders got the opportunity to connect with Community today! Treeland’s resorts outside of Hayward hosted the Winter kindergarten as we continue our unit on exploring seasons and our apples unit. The kinders got to explore the kitchen and see how pizza is made, pick apples from their apple trees, play on the playground, and we were treated to some delicious cheese, pizza, and ice cream!! Thank you so much to Tatum and all of the Treeland’s staff for creating a wonderful experience for our students today. Next up… Applesauce!!

This year, keyboarding is working with Kindergarten and 1st grade together. We are having the best time. Instead of me doing all the teaching, the 1st graders have been assisting in the class. This week, they showed our Kindergarten students how to log in to the computer and some of the games we can play. The class was full of laughter and smiles! It’s an experience seeing the students helping one another.
2nd grade learned why leaves change colors in the fall. They then went on a colorful leaf hunt! 🍂🍁

We had a blast at Science Club this morning! Puzzles, games, engineering, teamwork, and feeding the snakes!
